By the end of the day September 6 – the two-week mark of construction — Rock Solid will have completed 0.4 miles (or 20 percent) of the new Two Hoots universal access trail. When completed, the trail will be suitable for use by all people. It will be 36 inches wide with grades of no more than 4%, and periodic passing zones at least 60 inches in width.
This is the first part of a project to improve accessibility at Swedetown. The plan also includes improving the handicap parking spots, and expanding and revamping the chalet so that all public areas are on the ground floor and accessible. The Swedetown Trails Club has a number of grant applications in process to fund the chalet work.
