Support Swedetown on Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday logoOnce again, the Swedetown Trails Club is a Giving Tuesday partner with the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation. This year, Copper Shores has established an “amplification fund,” which will match a significant portion of donations to Swedetown and other community organization. Gifts must be made through Copper Shores no later than December 3. You can make your donation starting November 12.

The Swedetown Trails Club will use donations to maintain and promote non-motorized recreation for the community. We will continue to provide and add to our enjoyable bicycling and hiking trails for all skill levels, with new signs and maps and a special emphasis on family-friendly trails. We will create and improve cross country ski trails to work toward a goal of 35 Km of groomed trails by 2030.

close-up photo of classic tracksOur other big goal, a multi-year project, is to enlarge and improve the Swedetown Chalet at the main trailhead, working with Calumet Township to provide more space and better access for all. In the coming year we will make further improvements to the parking lot and continue efforts to secure grants and funding for the chalet building changes. Donations from our supporters are needed to provide matching funds to make this a reality.

We thank everyone who made donations to support the trails during last year’s Giving Tuesday. Between your generosity and added funds from the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation, we received nearly $32,000 in donations, a very significant boost! This enabled us to carry out many improvements to both summer and winter trails, and hire part-time summer employees. The Trails Club also added to the groomer replacement fund and purchased a track setter to help provide good skiing in low-snow conditions.
