The Swedetown Trails Club has made a number of improvements to the single track this summer, thanks to the hiring of two part-time workers, three days work from an AmeriCorps team, contractors, and a lot of volunteer hours. You’ll see the result on the map below, but here is a summary:
- A new two-mile Universal Access Trail that starts and ends at the chalet (built by Rock Solid)
- A short new flow trail between the chalet (starting southeast corner) and Applesauce (near the groomer barn)
- A 0.25-mile reroute on Backcountry to avoid an area that is generally wet.
- Resolving drainage and erosion issues on the section of Backcountry (from the intersection with Ten Times to the intersection with Bunker) (built by Ebb and Flow – will be completed this fall).
- Repairing an eroded area of Lakeview and improving drainage.
- A short reroute on Lakeview to avoid an area that had become eroded and washed out.
- Improvements to much of Southside – smoothing, improving drainage, and fixing some eroded areas. A short section still needs work, but will be completed this fall.
You may have noticed the hand-written signs. We’re in the midst of developing new signs for the summer trail system, which will be deployed in spring 2025.
