A dedicated group of volunteers spent Thursday mornings this summer making significant improvements to the Mama Bear/Papa Bear intersection. This eliminates the old awkward downhill intersection and will make room for a new Bear loop in the future. The change involved creating several hundred meters of new trails. We put the club’s mini-excavator and tractor to good use, and had a helping hand from a full-size excavator.

Also this summer, we moved a significant amount of fill dirt to improve Powderhouse and Relentless, trails that were modified and created last year, respectively. This work will improve the grooming and, hence, the skiability of the trails.

Other improvements include adding fill to smooth and creating a wider radius at the intersection of Greenstone and the start of Mama Bear, which will make it easier for those who don’t want to stop before proceeding onto Mama. We also added fill to the intersection of Valley and Cedar, again to make for a more smooth transition between those trails.

All of this work was accomplished by volunteers, as well as the two part-time summer employees. Those employee positions were made possible by your membership, so thank you!
