Greet the Goats at Swedetown July 12 and 19
For the third summer in a row, a herd of goats will visit the Swedetown trails to help eradicate the invasive buckthorn, an increasing problem. Swedetown and KISMA (Keweenaw Invasive Species Management Area) will host two Greet the Goats sessions on July 12 and 19, 11 am – 1 pm each day. You can watch the goats as they chow down on buckthorn and learn about the effects of intentional grazing as biocontrol for invasive species.
In addition to improving both the winter and summer trails during the summer work season, the Swedetown Trails Club board is committed to battling the invasive glassy buckthorn at the trails.
