Land Purchase

In 2023, through the initiative of the Swedetown Trails Club, Calumet Township received a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant to add 35 acres to the Swedetown Recreation Area. This includes the start and finish area for the Great Bear Chase and an informal trailhead to access the summer trails via the Fawn Chase and Bull Toad trails. Donors provides the required local funding match. Thank you!

Support the trails via Giving Tuesday 2023

Support the Swedetown Trails with your Giving Tuesday donation by mail or at the Copper Shores Health Foundation Giving Tuesday web page (http://coppershores.org/givingtuesday). Thank you to all our supporters who donated last year to help add 18 acres for a new trailhead plus new equipment for trail work and winter grooming. November is the time to donate because Copper Shores will match your donation to this and other organizations (up to a limit). Donate now or before Giving Tuesday 2023 on Tuesday November 28.

Future Projects

The Swedetown Trails Club has started the process of redesigning and expanding the chalet. Goals include moving the food service area to the ground floor and improving accessibility.
